The Reserve side completed their preparations for the new season with a comprehensive 7-2 thrashing of Bedfordshire County League side Shillington at Grange Playing Fields.
The management team were delighted to just get 11 players on the field after a real headache with injuries and unavailability in the week leading up to the game, but in the end they proved too strong for their opponents.
Town took the lead early on when debutant Aaron Slack scored a superb bicycle kick from eight yards out, but the visitors quickly levelled as a slip from the returning Lee Buck enabled the Shillington forward to drive past Jack Farmer.
Baldock took control of the game before the interval when Lewis Littlechild restored the lead from close range after a corner from Lee Rusbridge caused a scramble in the box and then Slack scored his second of the afternoon, turning the ball in from a tight angle to make it 3-1.
Shillington gave themselves hope just before the half-time whistle, when they took advantage of some poor defending to reduce the arrears.
In contrast, the second period was a more one-sided affair as the visitors ran out of steam and the Baldock youngsters ran riot.
Young players James Graham, Jonny Poleszuk and Allan Gray all netted, with the other coming from co-Manager Lee Rusbridge with a fierce 20 yard drive and in all fairness it could have been even worse for the visitors but for some poor finishing.
Sean Ennis, Kevin Smith and Rusbridge will be pleased with their pre-season preparations after four wins from five games. They will be hoping to have a more settled squad once the season gets underway, but with more suspensions coming for the first team, the first month of the season promises to be a challenging one.
